Los Santos Wolverines

The Los Santos Wolverines, the AAA affiliate of the Los Santos Aces, were inaugurated in 2014 to accommodate for the overflow of players trying to make the Aces offline NHL roster. Like most NHL teams, having an AHL team would benefit their franchise by developing prospects for the NHL at a lower level. Having over 300 players trying to make the big team something had to be done and so the Wolverines were born. They were originally named the Charlotte Wolverines because like the Aces, they were also based in Charlotte. They later "relocated" to Los Santos when the Aces did before the NHL 17 season to stay close to their NHL team so call ups would be seamless. "Wolverines" was chosen as the team's name because at the time NHL 14 had limited names, logos, etc... and the idea of a wild animal trying to survive or fight its way through life metaphorically relates to a minor league player trying to make a name for themselves to prove they're worthy of a chance to play in the NHL. The prospects that were used to create the Aces franchise were based on a Call of Duty clan, Triple X Elite, so "fighting, killing, hunting" felt relatable enough to influence the team's name. The same color scheme and similar uniform as the Aces was used for the Wolverines to show unity between the two teams because even though not all players play at the same level, they still play for the same organization and are treated like one big family. Byron would become the mascot for the Wolverines because he was responsible for recruiting most of the Aces and both teams would not exist today without him. Byron also liked the idea of running the EASHL Wolverines team and trying to add more players to the organization. The number 14 was to be used anyway because 2014 was their first season, Byron's preferred number was 14 and at times he had a personality of a Wolverine, so he was a good fit to be their mascot and even though he is no longer with us today, his name will still be used for the Wolverine mascot to honor everything he did for our organization. The Wolverines focused mostly on the offline AHL season, but they did field an EASHL team during the NHL 17 season in an effort to acquire more players for the EASHL Aces but was later scraped because of a lack of interest and the EASHL Aces decided to keep their smaller roster of highly skilled players rather than having more players with lower skill. The EASHL Aces have historically had more success with fewer players because of skill, chemistry, hockey sense... The EASHL Aces now host tryouts for all new prospects on the spot using the Aces team and therefor an EASHL Wolverines team is no longer necessary. More info on the NHL/EASHL Aces can be found under the "Our Story" tab. The Wolverines won the Calder Cup both times in their first two seasons but since then, they have been eliminated in the first round every season after that as of 11/28/23.
